MINISTRIES AT THE COVE
Many of our ministries are listed below with a brief description. With our ever growing and active people it is difficult to list every ministry team, but here are a few to let you know what the Cove is about. If interested in any area of service please let us know.
Camp Cove is an after school ministry. It takes place during the Spring for about 9 weeks on Wednesdays. The Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church Bus picks up kids at Caton’s Chapel Elementary School. We offer snacks, crafts, games, bible time, music, preaching and then we finish the evening off with supper. We average about 200 kids and about 70 adults. Many families have joined our church through Camp Cove. Most importantly, many souls have come to know the Lord.
If you enjoy fellowship, travel, and mission projects, then you will love the “Cove Classics.” The only catch is you must be at least fifty years to attend. Recently we traveled to Abingdon, VA to the Barter Theatre. There we saw a play, “Forever Plaid”. After the play we had dinner at the Martha Washington Inn. Everyone had a great time in fellowship. We are very excited about this ministry and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to serve at Richardson’s Cove Baptist. We look forward to seeing you!
Vacation Bible School
Every July, Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church holds a one week Vacation Bible School. All participants get into the theme with bible devotions, skits, crafts, games, and food. With the church creating its own literature and theme each year, VBS at Richardson’s Cove is always one of a kind! From young to old, everyone seems to enjoy the sweet fellowship of VBS. We’ll see you there!
Sunday School begins at 9:30 at Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church, and it is a great opportunity to meet new people. You can also start to see and feel the support that comes from sharing God’s word with other people. I have found that you will start to care about each other more and remember each other in prayer. Keep in mind the parable of the sower in Matthew 13: 1-8. Sunday School helps to prepare us for the worship service. Whether or not the seed has already fallen or is yet to fall, the ground needs to be as soft and receptive as possible. So come and help us work the ground.
Associate & Youth Pastor Scotty Henry
Richardson ’s Cove Baptist Church attempts to meet the worship needs of all ages. Kids in Kindergarten through 2 nd grade are encouraged to come and “Worship Kid Style”. We begin after the children’s story and song in the sanctuary. We meet in the youth room inside the fellowship hall. Kids participate in singing and hear Bible lessons from our speakers each week, preparing them to one day enjoy worship in the sanctuary. Children and youth who are in 3 rd grade and up can volunteer as junior helpers during Children’s Church. Come and join us!
Richardson ’s Cove Baptist Church even provides opportunities for
our youngest members. A nursery is provided during worship service for infants through four years of age. During service, children learn about the Bible and God’s love.
Every Sunday morning as part of our worship service we make time for our little ones around the alter for a children’s story. Several talented people in the church rotate weeks and prepare a brief object lesson for our kids. It always helps to set the mood for the rest of the service and if you are interested in more information please let us know.
The Cove Kitchen
The Food Ministry here at Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church is a fellowship program that unites physical hunger with spiritual hunger. Each Wednesday night service beings with a supper, a great chance for old and new members to become acquainted. This particular part of the food ministry has grown from 30-40 people to well over 125 on Wednesday nights. Sunday dinners, such as Christmas and Easter, are planned with the congregation contributing covered dishes for these special occasions. This is a great example of God’s family uniting in fellowship with a passion for serving the Lord and a desire to share a meal.
The R.C.B.C. Newsletter started in May 2007. The “Cove News” is released on the first Sunday of each month. The newsletter includes birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming events, special events, and much more. It is also available for anyone desiring to communicate information throughout the church.
Christmas Baskets for Christ
Over 50 years ago this ministry began to help the needy in our community with food and toys at Christmas time. With our church, Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church, and other sister churches, Club Truth, and several of our schools, we ministered to over 400 families and over 700 children last year. This is a wonderful rewarding project, with many areas to serve; collecting canned food, sorting food, wrapping gifts, bagging fruit or potatoes, or delivering the boxes to individuals’ families. Wherever you choose to serve, the Lord will richly bless you. Your Christmas will never be the same.
The Youth Detention Ministry
Every Wednesday evening the Youth Detention Ministry meets with the young people who are incarcerated at the Sevierville Youth Detention Center. The majority of these children are here because of the bad choices that they have made. The young people are there sometimes up to a year, but most are in for about six weeks. God’s message is delivered along with discussion. Over the years there have been many youth who have declared their faith in Jesus Christ. Every youth that is saved is given a Bible and encouraged to find a church to attend after they are released from the facility.
The audio/video room is a small aspect of what happens during worship. If we do our job right, you will never know we are here. If we mess up, it is the only time we see your faces during the service. We count it as a joy to get to serve the Lord in this area. We feel it is a ministry and we feel lead by the Lord to serve in this capacity. Plus we get to play with a lot of cool electrical stuff! There are around 6 people who work in the A/V room. There are three major jobs that we do, video the service, run the computer (songs, scripture, Preacher notes) and the sound board. We love what we do and if you feel led to serve in this ministry, please contact one of us. We would love to train you and then put you into the rotation. The only requirement is you have to be at least 18 years old.

R.C.B.C. Sign Ministry
"ALL ROADS CAN LEAD TO JESUS” The signs are an extremely simple, effective way of communicating Gods Love to passersby. They make you think, then smile, amusing… yet after reflection, a serious thought to carry you throughout the day, wherever you are going. Some may follow the signs and find their way to heaven. I hope your journey will bring you closer to Jesus. The sign ministry has been a great blessing to us!

R.C.B.C. Youth Group
Proverbs 22:6 tells us “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it”. Here at Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church, the Lord has blessed us with many different ministries for children and youth. Some of our exciting activities are: Sunday School classes, Sunday night cell groups, Wednesday night classes, youth choir, children’s choir, drama, youth group trips, and children and youth outings. Recently our youth went on a trip to Fontana. It was a 3 day trip, where we worked on having courage to witness for the Lord.

God has blessed the church with a wonderful ministry that reaches out to our community and those in need. Each Thursday a team of dedicated volunteers gather at the old church building from 2pm – 5:30pm to meet, pray with and share food with those in need. Anyone is welcome to come by as often as they have a need. We are partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank and are able to provide a good variety of food items each week. We also maintain the food backpack program for several schools in the area and deliver them on a weekly basis during the school year. If you would like to get involved in this ministry, we need backpack delivers, bag packers, food sorters and financial providers and prayer warriors. If you have a passion we have a place.
The Women's Ministry at R.C.B.C. is for all women - no matter your age, background or life stage. Our heart is to reach women inside and outside the church with the love of Christ, see them grow in their walk with the Lord, and apply God's Word to their lives.
We want to encourage, equip, and strengthen them in their faith. We want to provide opportunities for women to connect with other women, study God’s Word, and encourage each other in love as they "do life" together while growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We want to meet ladies right where they are and come alongside them, encouraging, supporting, praying and equipping them in their journey with God. We want to grow our faith and demonstrate His love and grace through our lives and relationships. We want deeper, Christ-centered relationships with each other through prayer meetings and fellowship events. As we worship and serve the Lord together, we want every woman to feel loved and accepted for who she is in Christ so that she is transformed and empowered to live out Christ's love and grace.
The Men’s Ministry of Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church usually meets the third Saturday of each Month. Each month a manly breakfast is served at 9am in the Fellowship Hall, and then we move into the Sanctuary for a devotion and prayer time. This ministry is a great way to get to know the other men in the church, share your prayer requests with others, and get in the Word and learn how to be the man God wants you to be. This ministry is also there to serve the needs of the church, its members, and the community. So, on some special occasions we do get together and do a little work for those in need. This work varies from cleaning out the church barn, to chopping wood, to building handicap ramps. This ministry is for all men of all ages, regardless if you are a visitor, new member, or long time member. If you have not been to one of the meetings you are truly missing out on a blessing, and I greatly encourage you to make it to the next one.
Jesus taught the disciple that love is the key. When he said in Mark 12: 30-3130 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
The goal of the CARE MINISTRY is to show the Love of Christ to our Church and Community. The CARE MINISTRY consist of three arms, Outreach, Prayer and Service.
Outreach- We try to make contact with anyone who is visiting our church, and provide information to our visitors about the vast and various ministries that are a vital part of Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church.
Prayer- We have a prayer team who prays over the request that are given to us through the CARE CARDS. The prayer team receives the new request every week and adds them to their prayer journal.
Service- The CARE MINISTRY also leads a cooperative effort with the Men’s and Women’s ministries to provide for our church family. We may mow yard or prepare a meal for families who just need a little help.
Rev. Tim Russell
We are blessed to have an active adult choir that helps lead us into worship and praise during our worship hour. Practice varies from Sunday evening to Wednesday evening depending on the season and other activities of the church. We strive to hold to the solid traditional hymns we grew up with as well as incorporate newer praise songs for a well blended service for all ages. Not only do we offer an adult choir but God has blessed us with an abundance of youth that have filled a youth choir that is responsible for leading praise the first Sunday of each month. No matter your age, if you are interested in music you have a place.
